Eight service books deposited by All Saints Church, Didcot, in November 1980, all pre-1901, searchable via the catalogue.
Included is the ‘Vinegar Bible’ (Oxford, 1717). This printing is known as the ‘Vinegar Bible’ because in the Gospel of John 2:1-11, which reports the miracle that took place at the wedding at Cana, the word ‘wine’ was misprinted as ‘vinegar’. The collection also includes a fine copy of The Book of Common Prayer, William Pickering (1844).
